Raising the curtain in September 2019, the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) and New Brunswick Development Co. commissioned McCann Systems to design and install the AV technology in the new $172 million building.

NBPAC Opening Night Celebration

Unveiled in September 2019, McCann Systems designed and implemented the two state-of-the-art theaters and performance stages in the NBPAC. The Elizabeth Ross Johnson Theater seats 465 people with an Orchestra Pit for 60 performers. The sister stage, the Arthur Laurents Theater, has a total capacity of 255 event-goers. They feature HIGHlite Laser 4k Projectors with 12,500 lumen capability. Read more about the technical capabilities of the venues here. The two theaters are joined by a common lounge and bar with Unilumin LED screening and signage, dedicated to the donors and local supporters of the arts.

In addition to the theater spaces, McCann Systems helped create three full-size dedicated rehearsal studios and collaborative workspaces. While not in McCann’s scope, the 23-story complex also includes 207 residential rental units- 20% of which have been designated for low-income and moderate-income housing.

Throughout the nearly 500,000 square feet building, there is a completely integrated AV solution, including outdoor and indoor public-facing LED screens that are programmed with content to allow passerby to observe footage of previous performances and learn more about upcoming shows. The stunning building is located at 11 Livingston Ave in New Brunswick, and the NBPAC is expected to generate an additional $20 million for the local and state economies.
