A cramped, odd shaped installation area made the AV design and integration of CNN’s Headline News studio set a real challenge.
There were two major hurdles to overcome in the design for CNN’s Headline News broadcast studio. First, the space for AV installation is extremely tight and oddly shaped. One side has more room than the other. Adding to the mix, CNN’s plan called for a large image size.
To match CNN’s size requirements, we mounted a Stewart AeroGlass rear projection screen, and installed a Christie 8000 lumen 3-chip DLP projector off to one side. To attain the necessary image size in the relatively cramped quarters, a rear projection, sled assembly mirror was used to bounce the image from the projector on to the screen. In addition, we provided the flat panel displays used throughout the set.
