Mccann Systems Brings Expert Av Integration To Dylan’s Candy Bar
Audio visual experts, McCann Systems, selected by New York’s famed Dylan’s Candy Bar to integrate audio visual elements in their oversized candy store.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It is a growing trend for retailers to invest in AV technologies aimed at entertaining shoppers. With help from AV experts, audio and video elements in store design stimulate the senses and meld with the shopping experience. When Dylan’s Candy Bar, a sweets emporium on Manhattan’s East Side, decided to renovate and expand, they turned to McCann Systems, a premier design-build audio visual firm, to integrate the audio visual elements for their confectionery tourist attraction – the largest candy store of its kind in the world.
Integration in phases
The renovation and expansion was accomplished in two phases. Throughout each stage, the store remained open, only the areas under construction were closed. To meet deadlines for audio visual integration, McCann meticulously coordinated its work with the contractor’s schedule and the store’s daily operations.
The sights and sounds of sweet nostalgia
On the 1st and 2nd level, McCann installed Tannoy speakers in the ceiling for background audio. The music selections played throughout the store pay homage to the past with sound tracks of sugar-coated, vintage oldies and nostalgic candy jingles. Five 42” LG flat panel LCDs with speakers were installed on both levels. Playing loops of old movies and clips of candy commercials, the monitors depict a history of candy throughout the years. Audio video output is controlled from the audio visual rack located in the head end closet on the basement.
It’s Party Time
The all new third level features three party rooms. Each of the 20’ x 20’ party rooms has a 42” LCD and Tannoy ceiling speakers. Below each monitor, a Crestron touchpanel controls the room’s display, speakers, DVD player and iPod dock. A microphone connection for announcements and karaoke is conveniently located in each room. The iPod dock allows each party to simply plug in their own IPod and jam out to their own party tunes. The party room features divisible doors permitting one large party, three smaller gatherings or celebrations of various other sizes. Whichever room configuration is selected, the Crestron control identifies the arrangement and manages the AV elements accordingly.
McCann Systems‘ recent AV integration for Dylan’s Candy Bar illustrates the trend of retailers seeking AV specialists to improve a shopper’s experience. With the aid of innovative AV technology, retailers are fusing fashion, lifestyle and entertainment in the hopes of keeping shoppers in their stores and ultimately fuel sales. As a premier design-build audio visual integrator, McCann Systems is pleased to bring “fashiontainment” to Dylan’s Candy Bar.
