FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
HOLMDEL, New Jersey – June 29, 2016 – McCann Systems is moving its Corporate Headquarters to Bell Works, formerly Bell Labs, the site of several monumental scientific breakthroughs including critical advances in radio astronomy and cell-phone technology.
According to Frank McCann, President and CEO of McCann Systems, the move is necessitated by the significant growth the organization has realized in recent years. Since 2010, privately owned McCann Systems has expanded with five additional Regional Operations Offices across North America, and a portfolio spanning three continents.
“Growing into this space, the site of so many pivotal technological breakthroughs, is the logical next step for McCann Systems.” Mr. McCann continues, “It is the ideal environment to foster a culture of innovation, which is what has always set us apart.”
McCann Systems is one of many tech-based tenants moving into the space, after the building sat empty for over a decade following the breakup of Bell Labs and a change of ownership. Among other notable tenants are Acacia Communications Inc., a designer of cloud-based communications services, and Nvidia Corporation, which invented the graphics processing unit (GPU).
Built in the early 1960’s, the iconic 2 million square-foot building of steel and glass was designed by famed Finnish-American Eero Sarineen, known best for his Gateway Arch in St. Louis. In its decades long prime, Bell Labs produced eight Nobel Prize winning discoveries, including the discovery of background radiation, a critical step in the development of the Big Bang hypothesis, and the invention of the first point-contact transistor in 1947. As a whimsical addition to the sleek and timeless facility design, the 478 acre campus includes a water tower shaped like a transistor to commemorate the achievement.
McCann Systems’ global headquarters was based in Edison, NJ, since its inception almost 20 years ago. While the New Jersey Regional Operations Office will remain in Raritan Center in Edison, the organization’s corporate headquarters will operate out of Bell Works as of July 2016.
